Expertise in Assessment and comprehensive psychological treatment across all aspects of complex psychological trauma and complicated cases and reports Dr Richard Sherry is a Consultant Chartered Clinical Psychologist (HCPC Registered, BPS CPsychol, FBPsS) specialising in psychological trauma, stress-related disorders, Complex PTSD (CPTSD), PTSD, anxiety, and complex clinical presentations. He is a Full Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a fully registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (BPC and UKCP), a BPS Divisional Coaching Psychologist and Executive Coach, and a BPS Psychological Test Registered User and Test Developer. Dr Sherry holds an MA in Organisational Consultancy and an MSc in Occupational and Organisational Psychology (with Distinction), and is a full member of the BPS Division of Occupational Psychology. He has specialist postgraduate training in Clinical Traumatology, including an ESTSS Certificate and EMDR Specialist qualification. He works with individuals, couples, families, and organisations across the lifespan. In 2023, Dr Sherry and Psychological Systems Ltd. received the Live Wire Innovation and Excellence Award for Boutique Mental Health Clinic of the Year – UK. He has extensive experience in military and veteran mental health, having led the Clinical Psychology Section for the US Military Inpatient Service as an external consultant for over seven years and undertaken psychological and mental health reviews for the veteran service for three years. He also holds postgraduate training in Medical Ethics and Philosophy, with a focus on Disaster Ethics, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology. He is a full member of the BPS Division of Neuropsychology and sits on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN). He additionally holds a Clinical Fellowship with the Register of Clinical Neuropsychoanalysis. Dr Sherry undertakes specialist clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and neurodiversity assessments, including complex presentations and medically unexplained symptoms, and applies these within clinical treatment and medico-legal practice. His medico-legal work includes mental health and trauma assessments, neuropsychological and neurodiversity assessments, forensic and criminal matters, family, employment and immigration law, aviation and aerospace, occupational assessments, and cases involving bullying, harassment, discrimination, and reputational issues. He is a Full Member of the Academy of Experts (MAE 3707), specialising in Clinical Psychology and Psychological Trauma. Teaching, supervision, and professional development are central to his work. He has served as Associate Course Director and lectures on Complex PTSD for Confer's Course on Psychopathology. He is also a Lecturer in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy at Regent's University and with the Association for Group and Individual Therapy (AGIP). His specialist interests extend to high-risk and unusual operational environments. He has completed Fellowship in Wilderness Medicine training (FAWM), with particular interests in high-trauma, low-resource environments and deep-space psychology, and is the author of a Routledge book on space psychology. He has particular expertise in the psychology of surgery and aesthetic surgery, serving as Clinical Psychologist in Residence and Fellow of the Confederation for British Surgery (CBS), where he also sits on the Executive Board and contributes to human factors, surgical safety, and improved clinical outcomes. In aviation and aerospace, Dr Sherry sits on the BPS Board for Aviation and Aerospace Psychology and is recognised on the BPS Specialist Register as an Aviation and Aerospace Psychologist, contributing to the developing field of space psychology.
