Counsellor

I believe that one of the most powerful things we can experience is being truly heard. My decision to become a counsellor grew from my own experiences of going through difficult times and understanding what it can feel like to need someone to talk to, but not always feel that person is there. Looking back, I recognise how much of a difference it can make when someone simply listens — without judgement, without trying to fix things and without telling you what you should do. That belief became even stronger through my work with young adults in the care system. Many of the young people I worked alongside had professionals making decisions for them, offering advice and telling them what they should do, yet they often still felt unheard. What they sometimes needed most was someone who would slow down, listen with compassion and give them the space to find their own voice. These experiences shaped the way I work as a counsellor today. As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person brings their own story, experiences and way of seeing the world, so I adapt the way I work to you and what you need. Together, we can explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful. I have gained experience working with clients through NHS Talking Therapies. This has given me experience of supporting people with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss and periods of significant change. You may be feeling overwhelmed or anxious, experiencing loss, struggling within relationships, going through a period of change, or simply feeling that something isn't quite right and finding it difficult to put into words. Whatever has brought you to counselling, I offer a warm, calm and confidential space where you can talk openly and feel accepted without judgement. I also have a particular interest in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause and am currently following a menopause-informed training pathway. I recognise that this stage of life can bring emotional and psychological changes as well as physical ones, sometimes affecting confidence, relationships, identity and how you feel about yourself. I’m continuing to develop my knowledge in this area so I can offer thoughtful, informed support. I see counselling as a partnership. My role isn't to tell you what to do or make decisions for you. Instead, I will listen, support and encourage you as we explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences together. Through this process, I hope to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, recognise your own strengths and discover ways forward that feel right for you. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you have never spoken openly about what you are experiencing before. You don't need to know exactly what you want to say or where to begin. You can simply come as you are. We can take things step by step, at a pace that feels right for you, creating a space where you feel heard, understood and supported.
