Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, MNCPS (Acc.)

Compassionate, person-centred therapy for adults living with chronic and long-term health conditions, individuals who have experienced trauma and/or abuse, or are feeling disconnected from themselves. Hello, I’m Libby, a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Sheffield. I am dedicated to fostering a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you can reconnect with your authentic self. I’m an integrative, person-centred counsellor specialising in working with individuals living with chronic and long-term health conditions (including physical health conditions, depression and anxiety), supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and/or abuse, or are feeling disconnected from themselves. My work has been shaped by my own lived experience, and I understand how deeply it can affect every part of your life, and what it's like to feel misunderstood or to like you have to hide how you're really feeling. I offer a space where you don't have to hide your experience, where you can be yourself, without judgment, and where there’s room for all of you. Whether you're living with a long-term health condition, you've experienced trauma, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties (including your relationship with yourself and boundaries), or just need to explore who you are beneath the labels, I’m here to support you. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, connection and collaboration, creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted. I incorporate elements from multiple therapeutic approaches, tailoring sessions to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. In our sessions, you’ll find a space where you can truly be yourself, as you are today, and together, we can explore what you're carrying, reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been overshadowed, and work towards feeling more like your whole self again. I’m an NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) Accredited Registrant and hold a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Most of my counselling experience has been in the charity sector, most recently, supporting women with lived experiences of trauma, abuse and challenging relationships through long-term therapy. This work has also deepened my understanding of the lasting impact trauma can have on our emotional wellbeing, physical health, relationships, confidence, identity, and the way we show up in the world. This (as well as my own lived experiences) has inspired me in my private practice, to support people living with chronic and long-term health conditions, as well as those who have experienced trauma, abuse, or feel they have lost touch with themselves. My approach is pluralistic and integrative, which means I have trained in a number of different techniques, and will incorporate elements from multiple approaches into our sessions, with Person-Centred and Trauma-Informed Therapy at the heart. Connection is always at the core of my work - whether that’s with others or, more often, your relationship with yourself. I tailor each session to your unique needs at the time, so together, we'll explore the things that matter most to you, and develop a way forward that feels right for you.
